Dear Ted,

First of all, I know you’re a dog and you can’t read, but even though I talk to you all the time, there are still so many things I want to tell you. Sometimes when we’re talking, I know you understand what I am saying. And sometimes, I find myself waiting for you to use your words and tell me what you’re thinking. Sadly, that hasn’t happened yet. But someday, I’m convinced it will. And when that day comes, I figure if you can speak, maybe you’ll also be able to read, and then you can read these letters.

I want you to know how much I love you and how much I have learned from you. I’ve been paying attention to all the lessons you’ve taught me, and I try to keep them in mind so one day, I can be a better human.
